Photo Story! Midway Farms !

Welcome to Midway Farms !

Located midway between Albany and Corvallis along highway 20 is a small, but mighty farmers market! They opened in 1998 and have been going strong since. Their hours are 10am to 6pm seven days a week!

When you walk up to the storefront, you are washed over with a welcoming tone as stroll by the arrangement of houseplants and herbs for sale outside. The store is a refurbished barn with a downstairs store and upstairs preparations area and storage.

Close up of rows of growing plants! Here you can see poppies, kale cabbage and strawberries all big and strong! This may not look like much to the average person but Midway farms goes for sustainability and small-scale farming to ensure top quality crops!

\Once inside of the store you will notice all the homemade goods the farm can offer: not only fresh fruits and veggies but also jams, sauces, salsa, pickled items and gluten free baked goodies! Did you know that they are Oregon's only dedicated gluten free farm? Right here in the midvalley!

The cold room where they display their fresh herbs, fruits, veggies and even flowers for sale!

I had chosen this establishment as my subject for my photo story because I have stopped here before and wondered how they produced so much in so little of space. While spending time here I was taught on how they use small scale farming and permaculture to produce fresh and new products! Luckily, when approaching to get photos I already felt comfortable there as my friend, Rory, works there and I have visited on my own time on multiple occasions. One of my challenges was capturing all the little things that are so important that most people would walk by, and also, the sun because it was so dang bright out!

Photographer Of The Week ! Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams   Ansel Adams was born the 20th of February,1902 in San Francisco . He was a rebellious student, having to be pulled out of school at the age of only 12. He showed to be not only a talented, self taught musician and pianist but also a great photographer when he got his first camera in 1916. During his 20’s he worked at a Yosemite national parks Lodge as a custodian but also produced landscape photography of the surrounding area. During this time photography and music were both equally important to him. When he got into his 30’s he decided to devote the rest of his life to photography. He is now considered one of the most important landscape photographers of the 20th century.  He was a strong conservationist and it showed through his photographs of the last untouched wilderness in the Western United States. He goes for a really crisp, clear, focused look in all of his pictures compared to other photography at the time that had a softer focus. Adams w...

JN Post 1: About Me

Hello~! My name is Paisley, but I also go by Mavis! Its a nickname from my family, since to them, I remind them of Mavis from Hotel Transylvania.  I was raised by my grandmother who has taught me the basics of life, and she still continues to. I moved to a ranch with my mother when I was 13, after that from 14 to 15, we lived off the grid out in the middle of nowhere, literally. Living with my mom had taught me a lot of hard lessons but also it has given me a HELLLLLA good work ethic! So I won in the end, I guess. I remember the first time I ever said I wanted to be a photographer. I was on a walk with my dad and I had to be only, hmmmm, like maybe 5 or 6 years old, I cant fully remember. I told him I wanted to be a "photo-grapher" when I grew up, and he had supported me like he always did. Again, I cant remember much after that but once I moved in with my mom, I started really deep diving into taking photos. Living and working with her was not an easy time for me, so I star...
