  Environmental Portraits!

Meet Sherry Spear at Spearit Bead Co. !

This is Shelly Spear, owner of Spearit Bead Company in Historic Downtown Albany near Monteith river park. I got the chance to chat with her about her shop and what's special and interesting about it! They opened their doors in October of 2005, in a different location down on 4th street near the Pix Theatre. Did you know that they are the largest bead store in the Willamette Valley and maybe even all of Oregon?! They have a wide selection of materials of beads, and jewelry making supply, such as antique ,glass, stone ,pearl, shell, coral and even bone beads! "If you can imagine it, we've got it!" Spear told me. There are many great options along with amazing prices over at Spearit Beads !

Photo Story! Midway Farms !

Welcome to Midway Farms ! Located midway between Albany and Corvallis along highway 20 is a small, but mighty farmers market! They opened in 1998 and have been going strong since. Their hours are 10am to 6pm seven days a week! When you walk up to the storefront, you are washed over with a welcoming tone as stroll by the arrangement of houseplants and herbs for sale outside. The store is a refurbished barn with a downstairs store and upstairs preparations area and storage. Close up of rows of growing plants! Here you can see poppies, kale cabbage and strawberries all big and strong! This may not look like much to the average person but Midway farms goes for sustainability and small-scale farming to ensure top quality crops!  \Once inside of the store you will notice all the homemade goods the farm can offer: not only fresh fruits and veggies but also jams, sauces, salsa, pickled items and gluten free baked goodies! Did you know that they are Oregon's only dedicated gluten free farm?...
